Cornell University is a private university in the town of Ithaca,New York.Cornell is one of the eight Ivy League universities .Cornell is known for excellent research in many areas in the Shanghai ranking ,which evaluates the research activities of universities worldwide,Cornell comes every year since 2003 to rank 12 globally. Also in undergraduate education cuts Cornell regularly in the top 20 from, for example,in U.S. News & World Report. At Cornell study about 13, 000 undergraduate students and 6, 000 graduate students, who are facing a faculty of approximately 1, 600 professors.Founded in 1865 next to the main campus in Ithaca, there are two Satellitencampi in New York City and Doha (Qatar) and various small outposts in New York State which house mainly on agriculture research laboratories.

Study
The article Study in the U.S. gives a good overview of the processes and concepts that are generally applicable to study in the United States. This will not be explained again here.Cornell is organizationally divided into colleges, which are often referred to interchangeably as schools and operate largely autonomously.Seven colleges offer programs for undergraduate students, seven additional programs for graduate students. Also, there are all sorts of intermediate forms, taking special organizational settings.
Undergraduate courses
The following colleges offer at Cornell Undergraduate programs: College of Architecture,Art,and Planning,College of Agriculture and Life Sciences,College of Arts and Sciences,College of Engineering,School of Hotel Administration,College of Human Ecology and the School of Industrial and Labor Relations. As you can see, there is a hand thematically very wide Asked colleges such as the College of Engineering, which comprises 12 departments (which are also sometimes referred to as "School") is,on the other hand also very specialized college as the School of Hotel Administration, which internationally is renowned for its courses in hospitality.
The Bachelor is sought in all undergraduate colleges of Cornell as first degree, usually this is the B.Sc.So there are no programs like this is possible, for example, directly to the M.Eng.,At some universities. The normal duration of study for Bachelor is four years. Some exceptional students achieve the required stint in 2.5 years, but few require more than four years. When applying the prospective student indicates a required "major",so the main subject, the next one can be one (or several) "Minors",so choose minor subjects, while studying. The change of major is possible but often linked because of the different requirements with respect to falling prices slip with a prolonged period of study.
At Cornell emphasis on a broad basic education. In principle, each enrolled student can enroll for any course from any college and in almost all programs, this is also expected.
An Example of the study process is as follows: A student in the College of Engineering is in the first year courses in engineering, who are not related major. This includes courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, technical writing, and also freely selectable rates from the spirit of Sciences under the "Liberal Studies".After completion of these courses the student selects a major and assigned its required courses, more general courses from the College of Engineering.Furthermore, can or must continue to external courses to be attended. Many students take for example the very popular but challenging course "Introduction to Wine".In later years of study in addition to the courses and individual projects have to be processed, which are either managed by a team of students or in a research laboratory under the supervision of a professor. The detailed requirements for a degree in the College of Engineering can be found

Graduate School..What are my chances?
Hey,
What are my chances? I majored in Physics at UCI with a 3.12 and minored in Biology. I first worked as an Assistant Analyst at an Insurance company but didn't enjoy it so I now work as a Lab Assistant in Material Science for Hexcel, one of the biggest carbon fiber manufactures to boeing etc. I'll be working here for two years. I will get Good recommendations from College Professors. I want to apply for Mechanical Engineering to a bunch of programs such as UofMich, USC, UTexas, MSU, UCLA, etc.
What do I need to get on the GRE's and what are my chances to get into a decen

A better question: Why are there so few Black
Students in engineering school. The group is immensly underrepresented. Because there are so few black engineering, cs, physics, math students it makes the group as a whole underrepresented in any tech field.
Walk into any engineering school. The class is largely compased of asian, white and S. Asian males.
I do know that in the past few years there have been federal programs to raise the number of underrepresented minorities at a graduate level (the nsf LSAMP program has been effective and has seen its budget increase). BUt I do not know what efforts have been made at an undergraduate level.
