Psychology Graduate School Advice

Hi all,
I'm a Northwestern alum who graduated in 2006 with a BA in Psych & English. I've been working and trying to figure out what I'd like to do with my life, and I've realized I want to go back to school for clinical psychology (PhD program). My job is not related to psych.
I know PhD programs in clinical psychology are EXTREMELY competitive, and while I have a little research experience (2 or 3 quarters), it's probably not sufficient, nor do I have good university contacts (BIG oversight on my part during college). I have a 3.5 GPA and am going to start studying for the GRE's soon
